From 1980-1989, 2214 songs reached the Top 40. From one-hit wonders to some of the biggest names in music, the 80’s saw an abundance of some of the best music, shifting out of the Disco era and before the electronic music age.
It was one of the last stops before all the classic media (vinyl, cassettes, even CDs) died off before their more recent resurrections, and listening to the music by year you can see the shifts as music moved from Disco to the the more hard rock and refined pop that dominated in the latter half of the 80s and into the 90s.
